When are they released?
Trailers are made as the film is being edited. Trailers must be available early enough before the film's release, the timing of the trailer is important, so it can get the appetite of potential audiences. However releasing the trailer not so far in advance that the film's attractiveness is forgotten about.
A key part of a films distribution plan is when it is released. Children's films are released around school holiday time. Big blockbusters are around summer and christmas, romantic comedies will often appear leading up to valentines day, and suspense film (horror) may come out for Halloween.
I watched three trailers that are current at the moment and discussed both what kind of 'buzz' they generate. I also explored the reasons why they were released in early summer.
