PLANNING: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

In Charlie Sierra's website Film Escape, he refers to approaches to character development by the an award winning by film maker Pen Denham in his book 'Riding the Alligator'. He mentions about how to get to know our characters. He writes about how we should think of it like a questionnaire which the characters need to fill out. We are going to do character interviews so we get to know the background story of our characters and our film.
However, we are going to 'hot seat' protagonist (Molly) in a therapy session a year after the events in the French house. We decided on a therapy session as she is traumatised from what happened.

  1. Excellent use of your research into character development. You have used what you have found as a springboard for a very creative approach into exploring your protagonist, that of scripting and videoing a therapy session in which the troubled girl recalls the loss of her mother. This provides the backstory for her trauma.
